#HappyNewYear!

It's crazy to think that it's 2018! I can still remember sitting in school thinking: "Man, eight more years until I graduate." (Just for reference, I think that would've been in 2007)
My start to the New Year was great! I woke up next to the love of my life, who had New Years off and is working day shift until the 8th, I got up, stretched a little, and then I was like "I'm a little thirsty. I think I'll go grab something to drink.
Nope.
I turned the knob on the faucet in the kitchen and it was silent. My first thought was obviously "did we pay the water bill??" But we did, since it was checked off on out bill chart. My next thought was "Oh, man. Frozen pipes." That thought was correct. There was no working water in our house anywhere. Luckily enough, we were able to get it back on and enjoy the rest of the day by playing minecraft and watching football.

But now I'd like to talk about my novel, the Legend of Asialdan, I'm editing. My buddy is really trucking along though it and leaving comments on things that don't make sense or places where I wrote like I talk. I have a couple other friends reading it, too, but she's the person I've gotten the most feedback from. She's doing an awesome job and she's being super polite about it, but it's still so hard to hear feedback. You always want to believe your book baby is the best, even if some of the parts are super ugly. But what she's doing is really the key to being a good peer editor. She's nice in her comments, she's honest, and she also tells me when I've done an exceptionally good job. Trying to correct grammar and trying to suggest a huge change is more of a professional editor's thing, and a lot of the time the writer may get offended if you suggest changes like that.
But luckily for me, my peer editors are awesome!
I'm looking forward to getting all the feedback I can and start editing a third time. I feel like I can do so much better emotionally through some of my chapters. But once again, editing is going to be hard with not only my internship coming up, but also school starting on the 8th. Now, I don't think any class can be as time consuming as neuroscience was, but I sure have a lot of interesting classes.
I'm going to sign off today with a picture of one of my favorite coffee mugs today! If you're not familiar with Rick and Morty, you need to be. It is freaking awesome. If you are familiar, then you know my mug is the dance tiny Rick does at the school dance, which my little brother and I are pretty much pros at! Also, in the background is canvas for IUS in honor of school starting

next Monday.
Also, check me out on fictionpress!
