Hi everyone!
Trying to be better about posting, but with school and my job it's super hard.
So recently I've decided on an editor for my MS #theLegendofAsialdan and I couldn't be more excited. It's putting me one step closer to getting my brain baby out there. The editor is pretty booked (hah) right now, though, so I can't put anything into motion until the end of January. That's okay, because in the meantime I started writing the sequel. It's absolutely just as hard as everyone says. I have been having so much difficulty it's not even funny...
So I decided to take a break from it. My writing friend from University suggested I try to jump into urban fantasy, so I was like "ehhhhh okay I guess I'll give it a try."
Best. Decision. Ever.
I had to write a short story for class anyway, and I was exhausted from the whole world building thing, so I was like "okay, I'll do the urban fantasy for this." And thus #NowYouSeeMe was born. I basically wrote the whole thing in one day and instantly fell in love with my two main characters (Oliver and Lynn). So one thing led to another and I've decided to expand the short story into a novella and I'm going to...
Wait for it...
Self publish it!
Yeah. So as soon as I have some more time (famous last words) I'm going to write more on it. Right now it has about 8,000 words. Novellas are 30,000+. Not that I feel the need to hit any word count. Actually, I would've loved to have written #NYSM as a novella in the first place, but I had to rein myself in because the professor wanted no more than twenty pages. That took a great deal of effort for me.
So that's what's going on with me in #writerland. I'm going to shoot for an early February release date for Now You See Me. More info to come.
Finally, I've got great news (if you came from twitter you probably already saw)! There's a magazine like thing at our school that's kind of hard to get published in, but your girl did it. I entered in my short story from creative writing last semester titled Brother, Brother and got an email saying it was going to be published!!!

So if you think about it... I'm technically a published author.
Just food for thought. ;)
xoxoxo,
