That was the game Levi had grown up playing his entire life. And he’d gotten pretty good at it. No matter how close the cat, Eric Bain, got, he was always able to squeeze out by the skin of his neck. Levi knows deep down he’ll eventually run out of places to hide, but that was why he was getting as well-practiced as he could with his magic. When the time came that he was backed into a corner, he’d be powerful and ready.

Until he sees a future snapshot of his brother, Oliver, fighting Eric and falling off the side of a skyscraper to his death. Levi knows he has to do something to save his brother, but as he follows Oliver’s path to New York, the inevitable confrontation between he and his hunter weighs heavily on his mind. Their mother, the most powerful Cerva to have ever lived wasn’t able to kill Eric, nor was she able to avoid him forever.What makes him think he can?
Oliver has felt trapped his entire life. Not only in his own home, or his small, Christian community village in New Zealand, but also on the ship he has been forced to work on for the last three years. It’s never been acceptable for him to be himself, nor use his magic, which was dubbed a curse by his father.
One day, while unloading cargo in Massachusetts, the ship leaves him behind and strands him in the strange, proud, and two-fisted land of the free. He doesn’t know what to do or how to function in a land so alien from his own, but luckily, a local named Lynn finds him and invites him to stay at her father’s hotel.
Lynn, a skeptic littered with dark secrets of her own, assumes Oliver’s a magician when he tells her about his magic, and eventually convinced him to travel to New York to try and make it big.
While out, the two of them face the obstacles of America itself, as well as a strange mark starting to grow on Oliver’s chest each time he uses his magic.
They’re both determined to make it to New York and start a better life for the both of them, but will this mark and the strange things happening to Oliver stop them?
